Works in Progress…

26 May 2016

Hello Everyone!

I can’t believe it’s the end of May already! Can you? I usually post over on the Facebook page a bit more often so you can always give that a look see to see what I’ve been up to.

The hubby & I have been able to actually work on our house this year! There is a new backyard patio, which was a dust bowl for a long time. We’ll be adding in a dripline system so we can have flowers/plants/vegetables in containers. That will be an ongoing project as we change over to a more waterwise back & front yard.

I’m currently working on some Victorian Bustle Era styled clothing (see portfolio page) and some cute plush critters. I’m also looking into creating some Art Nouveau styled outfits &/or accessories. I’ll be selling items in my Etsy store as they are finished.  I plan on offering more finished pieces for purchase, but you can always contact me directly to talk about custom pieces.  I’ve also been taking some online courses from Jennifer Rosbrugh of Historical Sewing.

I’ve been asked to be one of the workmanship judges for the 2016 San Diego Comic Con Masquerade costume contest this year. That should be fun as there are always a HUGH variety of costume that enter.  Big news for this year; SDCC is going to be broadcasting direct from the convention for those of you who are not able to attend. It’s a subscription service.  New companies will be awarding cash and merchandise prizes this year, so make sure to check the Masquerade page often.

Well that’s about it for me for now. Got to get back to work.  ; )

  • Andrea did an amazing job on my costume for Comic Con. Not only was there fantastic attention to detail it was actually comfortable to wear, which is saying something when it’s 85 degrees and you’re clad in vinyl! Thanks so much!

  • Andrea’s designs added enormous visual appeal to my last film, and were a powerful tool for revealing character. But beyond that, her attention to the details of how the costumes would be used –how the actors would need to move in them and in what environments– proved critical when we got around to filming fight scenes in hot weather. I can’t recommend her highly enough.

    - Keith Hartman, Director of REAL HEROES
  • When we needed period costumes for our choir’s Renaissance Christmas pageant, Andrea was our go-to person.  We were pleased with the quality and the quick turn-around time.  Her attention to detail made the costumes pop, and added that “something extra” for our performances.
